As college pro days wind down, it is finally time to release our initial 2010 Dynasty Rookie Rankings.
Our rankings represent the potential fantasy football impact each player can make in your dynasty league and not necessarily where they will be drafted on April 22-24.
We will continually update these rankings until the season begins. There will be more clarity once the NFL Draft is complete and we know where each player will start their career.
We have made some minor changes from our initial positional rankings that you can read below.
Top-12 Tight Ends
Top-30 Wide Receivers
Top-30 Running Backs
Top-24 Quarterbacks
Top-30 Individual Defensive Players
These dynasty rankings are based on the following:
- Deep IDP/PPR League
- Start 3 WR and/or Flex Player
- Scarcity of starting QB’s and RB’s
- Defensive Tackles are devalued and start at DL
Dez Bryant remains the top choice in PPR rookie drafts. Character and work ethic concerns aside, wide receivers with his talent do not come around often.
Ryan Mathews is the only true feature back available and because of that he leap-frogs Best and Spiller. Jahvid Best and C.J. Spiller are nearly identical players, but we have been impressed with the burst and patience of Best after watching more tape. Spiller is still the consensus favorite as the top running back available. Targeting rookie picks 1.02, 1.03, or 1.04 presents excellent value and will net your dynasty team either Mathews or Best.
We like Andre Roberts and Damian Williams to out produce their more hyped counterparts in Demaryius Thomas, Brandon LaFell, and Arrelious Benn. Roberts is skyrocketing up draft boards and could still be available in the late 2nd round of your rookie draft. Mike Williams has fallen in our rankings because his character concerns are too glaring to ignore.
Jimmy Clausen remains slightly ahead of Sam Bradford at this point. Both Clausen and Bradford are good late first-round selections in larger leagues.
Jermaine Gresham is still our top tight end, but Florida’s Aaron Hernandez has moved past Rob Gronkowski. There are rumors that Gronkowski suffers from spinal stenosis and he could slide on draft day.
