The FantasyLion.com One & Done Contest

by John Gustafson, john@fantasylion.com

Well five hours and a few iced teas later, all of the teams have been entered into the FantasyLion.com One & Done Contest. Thank you to everyone who joined! The winner will take home a $50 Best Buy gift card. I was hoping to get at least 50 participants but we have almost 80!!! That is so awesome!!! The site and setup turned out great and I’d like to thank MyFantasyLeague.com for allowing us to use their site and software for free for the playoff season. If you are not running your site through MFL, then you are missing out. They are hands-down, flat-out the best when it comes to league sites. I’ve used them the last 2 years for my keeper league and have really enjoyed their product. Anyways, here’s my wildcard lineup for this contest. My strategy was to use the studs from the teams I have losing this weekend which are; the Cowboys, Cardinals, Jets, and Ravens. I also wanted to pick a coach who I thought had the easiest time of winning. Here’s how it turned out…

  • QB- Kurt Warner - This team is full of Cardnials Kool-Aid and Warner is the first ingredient. I thought about Romo, but in an order to avoid the inevitable Romo meltdown, I’m going to pass on him this weekend.
  • RB1- Ray Rice - Rice is nice! He’s in every lineup I have this weekend. Let er rip Ray Ray!
  • RB2- Thomas Jones - I can feel it in my bones that Thomas Jones is in for a lot of touches and the Jets lose.
  • WR1- Larry Fitzgerald - I may only get to use him once and any time I can use Fitz, I will.
  • WR2- Steve Breaston - Kind of a sneaky play here, but he did well when he started for Boldin earlier this year and if I can get good games out of both Cards WRs then I’ll move forward with a lot of options for the last 3 weeks.
  • TE- Jason Witten - Like the Cards WRs, I’m loading up on the pass catchers in Dallas as well. I may only get to use them once so I want to take full advantage. Witten is the best option at TE on the 4 teams I have losing this weekend.
  • Flex- Miles Austin - If this game turns into a shootout, then I’ll have both of Tony’s bff’s in my lineup. Having both guys is also a bit of a hedge play because I’m not starting Romo at QB. If Romo ends up having a good game, then chances are Witten and Austin will see around 80% of those numbers.
  • Coach- Bill Belichick - I just don’t see the Ravens winning this weekend. The Bengals should bounce back this week but it’s not guarantee. I like the Packers chances, but I’d rather wait. As for the Eagles, I’m pulling for them, but after last week’s debacle, how can I have any confidence in them?

Thanks again to everyone that’s participating in the one and done contest and I’m looking forward to a fun playoff season with all of you!
