Recap: I was targeting Austin and Addai this round. Nick took Austin right in front of me so my decision was easy. I was considering Addai in the 2nd so I’ll gladly take him here. I draft based on average draft position and go for value so each round I have a few guys in mind that I want. I never get attached to one guy each round because if that guy gets taken in front of you like Austin for me this round, you can get flustered and lose sight of the other available options. When it gets about 3-4 picks away from my pick, I rank the guys I want 1, 2, 3, 4, etc and go with the highest guy I have on my board for that pick. This also helps you keep your confidence throughout your draft because you’re always selecting a guy you want and not just a guy who you feel ok about. I will not take guys I feel ok about. This year I felt ok about Braylon Edwards. Well less than ok, but I picked him anyways in one league.. big mistake, total waste of a pick. I will not do that in 2010.
I like Addai. Some are worried about Donald Brown emerging in a larger role next year. That could happen, but at this point I’m not worried about it. As training camp approaches and their RB situation gets clearer, I’ll have a better idea of where to select Addai. I could see him being a first rounder based on the year he’s had this year, but more than likely a 2nd or 3rd rounder and getting him here was a great value. I always want value and so far I like my team.
