Recap: With this pick I was targeting Welker, Wayne or Addai in that order. I was happy to see Welker fall to me. I would love that if that happened in a real draft. Ironically enough though, a guy in one of my leagues had Fitz, Welker, and Ray Rice and still lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs. My combo of Fitz and Welker looks sexy on paper but it’s not guaranteed to pay off. I’ve gone WR/WR before with my first 2 picks and it’s worked out. It’s kind of a sneaky way to go that could also end up being a huge bust. Some might wonder why I didn’t take Rodgers knowing how much I love the guy and the reason is I typically hold off on taking a QB until at least the end of the 3rd round. In 2010, I’ll probably wait until even longer and try to grab a guy like Matt Ryan around the 8th or 9th.. a guy who’s value might be down but could bounce back. Jay Culter and Carson Palmer are 2 other guys I would target late by holding off taking a QB early.
