Here’s why I will start my Colts with ZERO hesitation. In 2002, I had a team that was just rolling the whole year long. PPR league, Charlie Garner, Joe Horn, Hines Ward, Terrell Owens, and Koren Robinson were my main players and at QB I had Jeff Garcia who was also solid. I think I reeled off like 10 straight wins and won easily obtained a first round bye into the fantasy semifinals. It was reported that week that TO would not be playing. No problem, I substituted Jerome Bettis who went for 2 TDs and 70+ yards. As for Jeff Garcia, it was reported that he would start but how much he would play would be undetermined. In typical playing not to lose fashion, I benched Jeff Garcia for Brian Griese who was supposed to be in a shootout vs the Raiders according to a certain website. Griese went on to throw 2 picks before getting hurt for -2 points while Garcia threw for 256 yards, a TD and a pick for 15.5 points. I ended up losing by 10 and not advancing to my fantasy championship. Since that day, I have gone with my gut on my starters and not hesitated to play my studs this late in the season. I still believe the Colts are playing to go undefeated and Peyton Manning although humble is a stone cold killer. The Jets D isn’t anything scary to me. They are not shut down. Revis is a shut down corner but the Colts will figure out ways to beat him. Is Wayne going to be limited because he’s facing Revis? Maybe, but I’m going to pay to find out. I am not benching Wayne. If I’m going to lose, I’m going to lose knowing that I went with my best player. If Peyton gets benched (which is something out of my control) then that’s how the cookie crumbles. Everyone of these guys faces the risk of getting hurt each week so just because Peyton may or not play the whole game, doesn’t stop the fact that someone else that you start over him can get hurt and not finish the game as well. At the end of the day, it’s your team and you have to make the decision that you feel is best and I’d like to see everyone in here win so I’m not telling you what you should or shouldn’t do. I just simply wanted you guys to know why I will not be benching my Colts this week.
