New blog, new site, 49ers and Bears quick look

Gore

Well the Twitter is off and running (www.Twitter.com/FantasyLion) and the new site has been registered and should redirect to the blog in a few days. The URL for the site will be www.FantasyLion.com, pretty simple!

Anyways, let’s take a look at tomorrow’s Niners and Bears game from a fantasy perspective. I’m not going to give projections. There are plenty of sites for that (www.fantasyguru.com is my personal favorite). Fantasy football is a haphazard game and anything can happen rendering most projections, well, useless. I never look at projections when deciding my lineup. I usually look at 3 things; the quality of the player, how many times I think they will touch the ball based on past performance, and their matchup or who they are playing that week. What I will do is tell you who is worthy of starting and what they should be started as.

Below we’ll see who’s worth starting and who should stay on your bench. This list should be thought of in terms of your team and what the given player’s role for your team should be for that week. For instance, when I list Matt Forte as a RB2 that means he should be your 2nd RB for the week… pretty simple, right? In over a decade of playing in competitive fantasy football leagues including Rotobowl and the World Championships of Fantasy Football, I’ve learned that it’s best to keep things as simple as possible on a week to week basis because they can get pretty darn complicated if you let them. So without further ado, let’s take a look at who should be in your lineup and who shouldn’t…

QB1 (Starting QB)

  • Jay Cutler

QB2 (Bye week fill in)

  • Alex Smith

RB1 (Your first RB)

  • Frank Gore

RB2 (Your other starting RB)

  • Matt Forte

WR1 (Your 1st starting WR)

  • None

WR2 (Your 2nd starting WR)

  • Devin Hester
  • Michael Crabtree

WR3 (Your 3rd starting WR or flex starter)

  • Johnny Knox
  • Earl Bennett

WR4 (The WRs you start if you’re really desperate)

  • Josh Morgan
  • Jason Hill

TE1 (Starting TE)

  • Vernon Davis
  • Greg Olson

K- Kickers are kickers and not easy to predict. As long as they get you some FGs you should be good. If you are relying on your K to win you games, you are in trouble! Nedney or Gould are worth starting.

Team D/Special Teams

I would avoid the Niners and Bears defenses this week. They’re both coming off a short week and the offenses could light up the scoreboard. I’m expecting both teams to score in the 20s thus rendering any points you would get for points allowed useless.

Well that’s it for now. I hope you enjoyed the first blog and please follow me on Twitter. I’m tweeting all day long! Roll with the lion, because it’s a jungle out there! www.Twitter.com/FantasyLion
